I think I got candy or ice cream if I was closest :) I still keep a grocery tally in my head, though now it's because I'm a grown-up with a grocery budget. But it's a good skill to learn!

You're right that people don't always see that math is all around them - paying bills, balancing a checkbook, calculating a sale price when you're shopping (that's often fractions too!). I'm constantly doing math in my head, it's what keeps my mind busy if I'm running on a treadmill (do you ever break miles down into more and more fractions, or is that just me?). Using it everyday is what keeps my math skills sharper than most other things I learned in school.Annehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/18403024177515079403noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4186071377310220339.post-48834057561823029762014-03-26T11:44:12.419-05:002014-03-26T11:44:12.419-05:00Awesome! I struggle when things don't click in my brain. I can memorize answers, but if I can't work through the process and it doesn't "click", I grow very frustrated. I like your idea of counting and estimating all day. I think I will try that.Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03710768241706165031noreply@blogger.com
